VERYVERY IMPORTANT DO NOT DRIVE UP THE ROAD NEXT TO THE PUB OUR ENTRANCE IS NEXT TO THE PUB NOT BEHIND THE PUB

...You'll see The Globe pub on the left and Looe Train Station on your right. The entrance to the hotel is immediately after the pub. However, the turn into the driveway is quite difficult from this direction, so continue along for 100 metres, then make a U-turn at the petrol station and approach the drive from the opposite direction. The hotel is at the top of the driveway.

Things to do in Looe

There's always lots to do in Looe, most of it for free. Take the kids crabbing on the quay, stroll to the end of the Banjo pier, go on a boat trip, or simply lie on the sand, bask in the sun and let everyone else do the rushing around.

Below are a few ideas to get you started. Have fun.  We are still adding to this list by the way, so there is lot's more to come

Sara pasty 314

Eat a Cornish Pasty

A visit to Looe wouldn’t be complete without a Cornish pasty. The traditional pasty contains steak and veg – steak at one end of the pasty, veg at the other. Nowadays pasties come in all shapes and sizes. If you want to take them home, then most places will sell boxes of ten. You can see pasties being made at Sarah’s Pasties on Buller Street.

Pengellys

Buy Fresh Fish from Pengelly’s

Looe is a fishing town and has its own fleet. The boats are mainly day boats, some using nets, others trawl. The fish landed at the quay is famously fresh. You cannot buy direct from the fish market, but just next to the market is Pengelly’s which sell beautiful fresh fish. If you fancy catching or buying your own mackerel, Ella will grill it for your lunch for you – you can’t beat a fresh mackerel salad.

Fishing & Boat Trips Out of Looe

Fishing and boat trips are available in abundance. Stroll along the quay and you’ll see dozens of boats offering to take you around the island (you can also land on it) , glass-bottomed boats like Boatzer, fishing trips short and long. Mackerel fishing for a couple of hours, or full day trips for conger eel and shark fishing. We can arrange trips for you, or you can chat to the skippers yourself at the quayside. The Looe River is tidal, so the trips are timed to suit the tides. Longer trips need to be booked in advance at the Shark Angling Club.
